An Associate Vice President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Jyotsna Puri (or Jo), has paid a working visit to the Rural Enterprises Programme (REP) in Sogakope in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region. The purpose of the visit was to observe implemented targeting interventions particularly for women and youth headed busiesses.
As part of the visit, Puri, who heads IFAD’s Strategy and Knowledge Department (SKD), interacted with staff of REP, the Sogakope Business Resource Centre (BRC) and Business Advisory Centres (BACs) from the North and South Tongu districts, as well as the Adidome Farm Institute. The clients were selected from Keta, North Tongu, Central Tongu and South Tongu districts.
She also interacted with some 25 entrepreneurs (who have benefitted from REP through the BACs, BRC and the Adidome Farm Institute) at a mini clients’ exhibition held at the forecourt of the Sogakope BRC. In all, seventeen (17) female and eight (8) male clients took part in the mini-exhibition.
Puri leads IFAD’s strategy work in key areas targeting agriculture, climate, gender, nutrition, youth and social inclusion. She provides the vision for evidence-informed advice on program designs and implementation, contributing to resource mobilization, and supporting IFAD’s global remit in providing state of the art policy advice related to these topics.
