More than 100 women in the Builsa South District have exhibited locally processed and packaged products in Fumbisi after a one-week training on modern ways of adding value to local products.
The products include dawadawa, groundnut oil, shea butter, soap, pomade, groundnut paste and local rice varieties.
The training was supported by the Japanese Social Development Fund (JSDF) and the Rural Enterprise Programme.
Mr Daniel Kwame Gariba, the Builsa South District Chief Executive, said the training was a great relief since it would improve the economic situation of the beneficiaries and improve their livelihood.
He said to attain the sustainable development goal on poverty eradication; there is the need to give economic empowerment to the citizenry especially the women, to make them financially independent so as to eradicate rural poverty, hunger and diseases.
The DCE said job creation remains a top priority of government and appealed to people to patronize the products made in the district to help boost the local economy.
